A Joule is a unit for measuring energy. It’s the amount of energy needed to lift a medium tomato one meter off the surface of the Earth. The Joule is named in honor of James Prescott Joule, an English brewer and physicist (1818-1889). James Joule first formulated the Law of Conservation of Energy.
